Our history
No.1 since its inception in 1943
The story of Segers began in Borås in 1943. Gustav Segerqvist left his job as a carpenter, bought a bicycle and hit the road with a suitcase full of clothes.
Village by village he built relationships and customers. After a few years the business had grown so much that the first seamstresses were hired and Segers Fabriker took shape.
What started with a bicycle and a strong entrepreneurial spirit has grown into an international company – but with the same fundamental conviction as then: that quality, long-term planning and close relationships always matter.
Our organization
Responsibility throughout the value chain.
At Segers, we work closely with the entire process – from design and product development in Borås to production, warehousing and logistics in Europe. Through our own production in Ukraine and warehousing and logistics in Estonia, we have good visibility into the entire value chain. This gives us the opportunity to ensure high quality, delivery precision and long-term responsibility in production. The majority of our products are manufactured by our own employees, which allows us to work closely with both processes and people.
The people behind the products
For us, sustainability is not just about products and materials. It is also about the people behind them. For many years, we have been working based on a clear code of conduct that helps us ensure safe working conditions, a safe working environment and respect for human rights – both in our own operations and at our suppliers. We strive to offer long-term and secure employment with fair conditions, social security and opportunities for development.
A part of the local community
We want to contribute positively even outside the workplace. Over the years, we have been involved in local initiatives within education, culture and community development in the areas where we operate. For us, responsibility is about more than production. It is about being a long-term and positive force for people, both in and outside the workplace.
Privately Owned Production
Around 90% of our product range is manufactured by our own employees at our factory in Ukraine. This gives us a unique proximity to production and the ability to take responsibility for quality, working conditions, and long-term development.
For many years, we have operated based on a clear code of conduct that helps us ensure secure employment, a safe working environment, and respect for human rights - both within our own operations and among our suppliers. We believe in transparency and regularly welcome customers, partners, and other organizations who wish to see how we work in practice.
Our commitment to quality, the environment, and social responsibility is reinforced by OEKO-TEX® STeP and OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN - certifications that impose rigorous standards regarding production processes, chemical management, environmental practices, and working conditions.
For us, responsibility goes beyond production; it is about the people behind every garment and creating long-term value for employees, customers, and local communities alike.
